A Woman's Song
Empire conquered Europe
& women became Roman chattel.
Once Rome fell, though,
women regained their rights.
Then Christian kingdoms & empires
enslaved women again.
Nonetheless, family endures.
Women clutch freedom’s torch
While rocking their children to sleep.
